Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.7 per cent on Thursday, helped by a rally in U.S. stocks after the Federal Reserve decided to buy long-dated Treasuries, with financials such as Mizuho Financial Group advancing. The benchmark Nikkei rose 52.84 points to 8,025.01, while the broader Topix climbed 0.8 per cent to 770.86.
